September Newsletter

Welcome to what is sure to be an exciting school year.  I want to thank everyone for their patience as we have worked out all of the bumps in our new arrival/dismissal procedure.  For the most part, students are arriving on time, and breakfast is running flawlessly!   With any luck, the sidewalks will be completed in the next week or two.
During the month of September, we will be assessing students in the area of Reading and Mathematics.  Results of these assessments will be used to assist those students who require additional attention in these areas.  Parents will be notified of the results of these tests and what additional support their child may need.  These reports should go home by the middle of October.
I would also like to take this opportunity to invite everyone to our Open House.  This event will take place on Tuesday, October 2, 2007.   It will run from 5:30 - 7:00.  Parents will have an opportunity to meet their child's teacher and learn about their child's academic program.  At the end of the evening, we will have an all-school meeting.  More information on this event will follow shortly.
For those parents who have not had an opportunity to attend one of our PTO meetings, I encourage you to attend.  Meetings take place on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30PM.  At most meetings, we have childcare available, if needed.  Prior to each PTO meeting, we also host our School Council meeting that starts at 4:00 PM.  The School Council works with the building
principal to review the school improvement plan and school budget for the upcoming school year.  Many excellent recommendations have come from this group of people.  If you would like to attend a meeting, please feel free.
As the year progresses, I encourage all of the Bowe School families to play an active roll in their child's education.  If at anytime I can assist you, please let me know.
