October Newsletter

School is off to a great start.  Students have done a fabulous job settling into their classroom routines.  I also want to thank all of our families as we have adjusted to our new school day.
Fall benchmark testing has been completed in the area of literacy and math.  We are in the process of entering this data into our computer database and analyzing the results.  By the end of October, parents will receive a notice that will explain how their child did on this round of assessments.  When this information is sent home, please feel free to contact your child’s classroom teacher if you have any questions.
October will be the first month our PTO will meet!  The PTO meets every second Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm.  All families are cordially invited to attend a meeting.  Childcare is provided at each meeting, when possible, so parents may bring their children.
Prior to each PTO meeting, the Bowe School Council meets from 4:00pm – 5:00pm.  School council works with parents, teachers, community members, and administration to create a three-year school improvement plan.  The council also reviews the school budget and school policies.  These are open meetings, and all families are welcome to attend a meeting.

Several parents had requested that we provide after school care here at Bowe.  Starting on October 9, 207 the Boys and Girls Club will host an after school program.  There will be a reduced rate for attending.  For details, please contact the Boys and Girls Club directly at 592-6707.  New England Farm Workers’ Council Child Care Vouchers Accepted.

Finally… Picture day is Friday, October 12, 2007.  We are using a new company this year.  Our new partners are providing many benefits to the school including class pictures for every student, additional photographers, and best of all picture packages are less money!  We would love feedback on Photos when the process is complete.  Have a great month!
