| Report
cards went home with students at the end of March. Chicopee Public Schools
does not set time aside for conference days in the spring. However, please
note that families should ALWAYS
feel free to contact their child’s teacher and request a meeting to review
the report card, or simply to discuss progress in school.
The end of March marked the first round of MCAS testing for students. All worked hard to ensure the best possible results. The next round of MCAS testing for students in grades 3 – 5 will be May 13 – 23. Please make sure that your child attends school for all of these dates! This is also the time of year when administration and teachers start to put together classroom placements for the following school year. This is a complex process with multiple steps. If parents would like to have input to this process, please take the time to write me a letter of request. I ask that parents refrain from naming specific classroom teachers in their letter. Nevertheless, parents may explain the type of teacher they think their child would work best with. You might want to make requests about the students your child is placed with. Letters should be received by May 1, 2008 the latest. Please understand everything will be done to honor all requests that are made in a timely manner. If you have any questions about the classroom placement process, please let me know. As the weather gets warmer and warmer, students will be spending more time outside. Please make sure that children are dressed appropriately to go outside, including outside shoes. If a student is well enough to come to school, the student will be expected to go outside, unless there is a medically documented excuse provided. |
